Rice prices continue to rise amid fears of sustained demand and supply shortages, Bloomberg reports.


According to the Thai Rice Exporters Association, the value of the white rice rose by 5% to $659 per ton that is the highest level since October 2008. In 2023, prices soared by about 38%.

According to the World Bank, rice price will increase by 6% in 2024.
