The first medical unit for mandatory treatment of individuals suffering from drug addiction has been opened.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new inpatient facility is designed to accommodate 22 patients. There are plans to gradually increase the number of beds in the near future.
“In order to effectively implement the treatment process for individuals suffering from drug addiction, the first medical unit for mandatory treatment has been opened on the premises of the ‘Center for Mental Health and Prevention of Addiction.’
The new unit was inspected by the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Mikheil Sarjveladze, together with Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Butkhuzi.
The new facility is designed for 22 patients. In the near future, the bed capacity is expected to be periodically expanded. The institution is staffed with highly qualified medical personnel.
The treatment process involves a multidisciplinary team that includes addiction specialists, doctors of various profiles, psychologists, and social workers. Treatment will be conducted in accordance with modern clinical guidelines and international standards, fully tailored to the individual needs of each patient,” the statement says.
